New Orleans

by Caroline Brown

Hi everyone, I had a last minute business trip to New Orleans for a client, but only for a couple of days. This place is wacky in so many ways, good and bad. The people seem great all around though. I’ll be back in Rhode Island tonight, where the high temperature today is supposed to be 40 DEGREES LESS than here in New Orleans.

Last night I ate dinner in an outside courtyard surrounded by palms and giant blooming hibiscus and covered by an impenetrable canopy of blooming wisteria. The petals kept falling on the table while we were eating. And I still live in New England WHY?

  1. LOL Yes, it sounds beautiful, but how hot is it, how humid is it, and how big are the bugs in the summer?

I’ve finally figured out that no place is perfect; you just have to decide whether you can tolerate the heat or the cold and locate yourself accordingly. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Wow, that sounds terrif C!!! Hope your trip was a big success.

  3. I spent the winter in Key West. I loved looking at the temperature outside and then checking the temperature back home in Canada (from plus 75 to minus 40). But given that, I wouldn’t take their summer over mine.

I think the answer is to garden in both places – here for summer perennials and there for winter “houseplants” outdoors. That way it’s a tax write off in both directions.

As another freelancer – have laptop and wi-fi – will travel. ๐Ÿ™‚
