Make your yard attractive to wildlife

by Caroline Brown

The National Wildlife Federation has an interesting program called Backyard Wildlife Habitat that’s worth checking out if you’re interested in attracting wildlife to your yard and garden. You can get your back “certified” by the NWF if you use sustainable gardening practices and provide the four elements needed for wildlife survival: a consistent food source, water, cover/protection, and places to raise their young. The website has a ton of information on how to certify your yard, and there’s an especially good section on native and invasive plants.
