FYI, you seem to have mixed up your zones. Higher numbers are warmer, lower numbers colder. So you should have said you be wasting your money buying a tree that's only hardy to zone 6 if you live in zone 4. You stated the opposite.

Thanks,

Hi Kevin, there is an old saying that the best time to plant a tree is ten years ago! :) Give me a couple of days and I'll do some research on fast growing trees and let you know. Thanks!

Dear Expert,

I live in Louisville KY and just bought the house I'll be in for the next 30 years (I hope). My wife & I want fruit trees ASAP (like yesterday). What are the best for this region, fastest to produce with the least amount of pampering? Red Delicious Apples?

Wow, dial-up, does this still exist??? Glad to see a post Caroline, hope that things are going ok.

This is something in the gardening field that I am actually aware of. Here on the Prairies, gardening centers are very busy this time of year, people picking out trees and shrubs to plant, before the winter sets in. It does seem like a strange time of year to be planting anything though.

You've been tagged btw....

See you soon. G
